Liane Lang was featured in Contemporary Art Society's ARTfutures 2007 at Bloomberg SPACE.
statement
Liane's works from the Casts Series are not, as they may first appear, using classical sculpture as a stage for contemporary performance, rather Lang's interest is in sculpture itself.
Life-casts of models using rubber latex are juxtaposed with sculptures from the Royal Academy collection, creating a narrative between the figurative forms – one ancient and fixed, the other contemporary and fluid. The light is set to give emphasis to shadow, volume, depth and drama.
