biography

Richard Woods lives and works in London and is represented by WORKS | PROJECTS, Bristol.

The Contemporary Art Society purchased 'Logo No. 14' on behalf of New Art Gallery Walsall as part of the Contemporary Art Society's Special Collection Scheme in 2005.

Contemporary Art Society Members' visited Richard's studio in December 2010 and was selected for Contemporary Art Society's ARTfutures 2005 held at Bloomberg SPACE.

Renowned for his signature architectural interventions and transformations, Richard Woods creates encompassing installations of hand-printed wood-block printed floors, walls and exterior elevations, together with paintings and sculpture that fold the history of the decorative arts, functional design and graphic language into intoxicating plays with image and surface. Infused with a cartoon sensibility, Woods work, whether transforming a whole building into a collage of clashing decorative surfaces or creating an approximation of a rock, revels in the idea of beauty literally being skin deep.
