Director's Talk - Gustav Metzger at the Serpentine

Join Paul Hobson, Director of the Contemporary Art Society, for a private tour of the solo exhibition by Gustav Metzger at the Serpentine.

We will examine the artist and activist’s life-longexploration of politics, ecology and the destructive powers of 20th century society. In 1959, the artist published his first Auto-Destructive Art manifesto, as a starting point for his concept of ‘public art for industrial societies’. This is an opportunity to discuss the ideas behind Metzger’s practice and discover why he has become such an important reference point for artists internationally.
