Please join the Contemporary Art Society for an exclusive three-day tour of the Sixth Berlin Biennale, Friday 2 - Sunday 4 July. The trip will also include a tour of the Berlin art scene with privileged access to private collections and artist studios. With more than 400 galleries and now home to a burgeoning population of artists from across the globe, the art scene in Berlin is one of the most dynamic in Europe.
Berlin is one of Europe's most attractive cities for contemporary art.
Continuously under change Berlin remains fragmented, diverse and contradictory. It is this environment and together with its relaxed manner that attracts international artists to Berlin, many of whom choose the city as their base and place for production.
The Biennale takes place every other year; for each exhibition a curator is invited to enter into a dialogue with the city, its general public, and the people interested in art as well as artists. Extending across the capital over several venues for the summer months this is the perfect opportunity to discover the contemporary art scene in Berlin.
Kathrin Rhomberg has been appointed curator of the Biennale taking on the theme of 'reality'. Rhomberg's Biennale will ask; what is reality, what is your reality and what is my reality. Ultimately leading to the question: what is contemporary art, and its relationship to reality?
The Contemporary Art Society will guide guests through the Biennale exploring the concept and looking at the key pieces in relation to the curatorial vision. On the trip members will also
have an opportunity to hear from gallerists, curators and collectors as well as rare visits to artists' studios so as to build a picture of the Berlin art scene.
Please sign up for this tour to gain a greater insight and exclusive access into what is arguably the most vibrant art scene in Europe today.
