On the day that the Berlin Wall came down where were you?
Since 1990 there have been other significant events that have brought about great change but no other has had such an impact on Europe economically or culturally.
As old nations struggle to change, and new countries emerge, what is the role of the art museum? Our trip to Poland, to two cities, Warsaw and Lodz, will focus on the development of the role of these institutions within the broader visual arts ecology. We will gain an insight into their approach to collections, collecting and curating and also observe the political role of the museum within economic development and national identity.
